Some might argue that New York City is the place to be for New Year’s Eve, but there is nowhere better to be for New Year's Eve than Miami Beach! Ringing in the New Year in Miami is a tropical glamour fest. There are so many great parties to choose from just crawling with celebrities and beautiful people... I don't even know where my night will end up.

But make sure to buy your tickets well in advance, because you really don't want to miss all the festivities that New Year's Eve 2008 in Miami has to offer!!!

Softening Miami's Velvet Ropes of Steel

Let's face it, we've all been there: you're all decked-out in your best attire - you've got on your new Balenciaga shoes and you're sporting your fiercest D&G Dolce and Gabbana Ocelot Print Pony Hair Frame Clutch - you're all ready for a night on the town alongside your fabulous Entourage.

You stroll up to the front of the club and the entrance is completely crowded - this doesn't look good. But what the heck, you're fabulous, right? - So you all somehow manage to push through the mob of annoying tourists that have obviously been rejected, and get to the front to give the bouncer your best smile (omg, thank God you just got your teeth bleached).

To your dismay, instead of seeing you and opening the velvet ropes to let you make your grand entrance, he turns around and goes back to what he was doing, leaving you standing there, surrounded by the smoky French women who are getting cattier by the minute.

Yes, even I have had this experience. Even as Miss Popular, I've gotten snubbed by Oliver at the door of Mynt Lounge on a Saturday night. Face it, we've all been there at one point or another. It's embarrassing, hugely frustrating and a major disappointment, but there could be a glimmer of hope, for some at least: South Beach nightclubs may be softening their hearts - just a little.

Michael Capponi, who's name has become synonymous with cutting-edge nightlife, luxury living and quality entertaining in Miami and a guest-list that spans Hollywood celebrities, rock and rap stars, supermodels, international jetsetters and the creme de la creme of Miami’s society, is now working with at lest 11 celebrities on a three-night event which will be called "A Toast To United Way" which is being put together to help out Miami's less-fortunate. Meaning people who have more to complain about than not getting into SET on a Saturday night.

Michael says: "People need to wake up and realize there are a lot of needs in this community and it's up to all of us to do something about it."

Hmmm...maybe instead of buying that new Prada bag at the Bal Harbour Shops this week, you should put your money towards helping someone instead. I mean, it is the Holiday Season...

"A Toast To United Way" is taking place in South Beach from December 27th - 29th and will sell $10 drink tickets at Prive, Opium Garden, Mansion, SET, Suite, Snatch, Cameo, Delano, Mokai, Glass, Rokbar and, of course, Mynt.
